We ended up being super busy before we took off for Utah. It was great because we were able to spend time with friends and get some good stuff checked off of our summer bucket list. :) One of those things was going to a Cubs game. I'm not really a baseball person. I don't understand much about it, but I loved going to Wrigley Field and experiencing a real, major league baseball game. :) We went with Scott and Sandy, so it was also a good time to spend with them before we left. :) Although I still don't understand much that went on in the game, I was glad that we had a true Chicago experience. :)

Looking back on it, we should have gotten hotdogs...
I think he was just really happy to be there. :)

We were pretty
decked out in red, white and blue. :)

Oh and we totally got peanuts. :)

Last week we had a pretty crazy schedule since we were leaving. We were able to meet with lots of people before we left as well as spend some time with Scott and Sandy. One of the fun things that we did together was a segway tour around Chicago. It was so awesome. Seriously, if you ever go to Chicago, this is the best way to sight see. :) Here are some of the pictures we took and things we saw. The city is beautiful. :)

Me on the segway. I was the only one who
had never ridden before, so I got on first.
Do I look a little nervous? I was, but I tried
to be cool.
Navy Pier. :) Too bad we never went on the Ferris Wheel.
(I think Bri is a little afraid of heights...)
The Tribune building. I love this one.
The gothic style is really pretty. :)
I forgot what this building was, maybe the
Wrigley building? I don't know, but I'm so
proud because Bri is the one who took this
picture. :) Nice, huh?

Buckingham Fountain. :) And the city. And cars. :)
I love this picture of Bri. :) He looks like he's getting into
trouble. He probably was because his segway was the only
one to lose power.
I think this one is Trump tower. The different
levels are meant to parallel the different building
heights around the city. Or something like that...:)
Marina City. I love these buildings!!
Especially because it would be the
perfect place to have an art studio. :)
So jealous about that...:)
He really doesn't like me taking pictures of him...

Too bad. :)

We look very cool on these things. :)
Us and the "Million Dollar View." :)
We went to P.F. Chang's for dinner.
Soo good, even though we were so tired.  :)
I already miss it...

This little summer...(Part II)

One of the best things about coming to Chicagoland for the summer was getting to live with the Clark's. :) And Callie the dog. I've been really lucky to have the opportunity to get to know my in-laws better and it's been really fun. :) Scott and Sandy are two of the busiest people I've ever met, so there's always something going on and we've had some fun times helping out. :) The kitchen was being remodeled this summer so that was a learning experience. I learned a lot about cooking a meal using only a microwave, crockpot, and rice cooker. We had some nice dinners around the basement ping pong table.  :) And luckily we were able to see the whole kitchen remodeling process. And it turned out really beautiful. I'm going to miss it and I'm definitely going to miss them.

Callie had no problem adjusting to us living
here. Now she had two beds she can sleep on.
Of course one of the things that we did when we
got here was to eat food in all of the places
that aren't in Utah. This is Portillos. :)
Super healthy. Well, I actually think that Bri
got a salad. This is all mine. :) Even the
chocolate cake shake, which is so weird and so
good. :)

My first Mongolian Grill experience. It was
really pretty exciting. I'm not sure why I've
never been to one of these before...
And Culver's. We've been here a couple of times. I wish they
had fry sauce. Someone really needs to figure that out...

This little summer....(Part I)

Something I've been wanting to do is document this summer, not just in iphone pictures, but for real. Bri and I aren't the best at remembering things and we've had way too good of a summer not to remember what we did. So the next few posts are going to be about our awesome little summer here in Chicagoland. I'm really going to miss it here, especially since it's in the 70s right now. Totally perfect weather. :) We've (I've) met so many amazing people and had some really fun opportunities. I think I love this place and I definitely wouldn't mind coming back. :)

I feel like I can't write about this summer without telling a little about our drive across the country. I've never driven for more than 12 hours and I've also never driven that far in an Eastern direction. Despite it's reputation, I think that the flat, midwestern farm lands are pretty beautiful and they deserve a little credit. :)

Here are some of the photos we took along the way. It was a long ride, but we made it and had a long summer ahead of us. It was all pretty exciting. :)

I really wanted to take a picture of tall rocks before we left them . :)

Of course there was snow. I didn't really mind, I thought
all of the white was pretty. But I also wasn't the one driving. :)
And it was a little inconvenient when we were stuck in
Laramie, WY for a couple of hours.
What a strange little place...

Saw a lot of these on our way....
(Nebraska!)
We also saw a lot of stripes.
And Semis.

Finally we got to Illinois and it was beautiful.
And very green.

This is a beautiful place to have in your backyard. :)

Today Bri and I made a goal list for the upcoming school year. It was our FHE activity. :) Bri loves making lists and he's pretty good at it. :) One of my goals was to start a blog. Mostly because it will give me an excuse to post our pictures and actually write about them. Remembering isn't one of my strongest skills, so I like the idea of having it all written and posted in one place. :)

One of my other goals is to take more/better pictures. Instead of just using my phone. I'll try, but it won't be easy lugging that huge thing around. :)
